The video tells the story of Ellis Island in three chronological, thematic chapters:

  • Creating Ellis Island: the first chapter of the film introduces the audience to Ellis Island and its early history.
  • Working on the Island: Chapter two explores the often overlooked roles of Ellis Island’s employees and their importance to operation of the immigration station.
  • Remembering Ellis Island: The concluding chapter examines Ellis Island’s closure, discusses its historical legacy, and emphasizes its lasting connection to our agency.
