This week, we celebrate the 50th anniversary of the March on Washington (August 28, 1963). Martin Luther King, Jr., standing in front of the Lincoln Memorial, delivered his historic "I Have a Dream" speech advocating racial equality and freedom. The march is widely credited with helping to pass the Civil Rights Act (1964) and the Voting Rights Act (1965).

As the 50th year anniversary (August 28) of the "March on Washington for Jobs and Freedom" approaches, many young people are learning more about prominent civil rights leader Martin Luther King Jr. During the huge rally, he delivered his famous "I Have a Dream" speech, calling for an end to racial segregation. VOA's Deborah Block spoke with some young people about their thoughts on King's legacy.
